What happens if a plow hits my mailbox?
Leave a message with the Public Works Department at (815) 654-5040 that includes your name and address and the date of the incident. The Public Works Department will work as quickly as possible (usually within 2 days) to provide a temporary solution and will then fix or replace your mailbox. Please be patient, since the Public Works Department will likely still be plowing!
When is the snow plowing ordinance in Effect?
The snow plowing ordinance falls into effect whenever 2 or more inches of snow falls. The ordinance requires all vehicles to be removed from public streets so that snow plows can quickly remove the snow. Failure to remove your vehicle from the street will result in a snow ticket.
