The Building Department is responsible for issuing permits for new construction, remodeling and demolition of all structures in the City of Loves Park.  Inspectors in the Building Department inspect all structures for which permits are issued to make sure they are safe and meet the various codes adopted by the City. The Codes that have been adopted by the City of Loves Park are listed below under Available Downloads.

Attention Contractors and Homeowners:

On February 12, 2018, the Loves Park City Council approved and adopted a revised Building Permit Fee schedule.  This revised fee schedule will be effective on February 15, 2018.  On this date, the revised fee schedule will be posted to the website.  To obtain a copy of the revised fee schedule prior to February 15, 2018, please call the Building Department at 815-654-5033.

As of October 18, 2017, the City of Loves Park Building Department will be performing inspections for the Village of Machesney Park.   All permits for projects in the Village of Machesney Park must be obtained through the Village of Machesney Park Building Department, 300 Roosevelt Road, Machesney Park, IL 61115.  Inspections for Machesney Park projects can be requested at 815-654-5033.

The City has adopted the 2015 ICC International Building Code series, the 2014 State of Illinois Plumbing Code, and the 2014 NFPA 70: National Electrical Code. Each of these codes will have limited local amendments.

The  effective date of the new codes is May 1, 2016.
